Mastering

My goal is to make your music sound as good as possible, while keeping or even enhancing the feeling you want to express with it.
How can I help you?
If you are anything like me, you care about what others think of your music. You want your music to sound as good as possible when you present it to the listeners. It should sound great, loud, clean, and clear through all distribution platforms and through all different listening environments. This is something I can help you with.
I have several educations in mastering behind me and I have had a pair of mentors who have really prepared me for this work. Today I am working in one of the absolutely best sounding and best equipped mastering rooms in northern Europe. This helps me make your music stand out from the crowd.

Are you a modern producer who mixes while you produce?
In that case I recommend that you consider my stem mastering service. I’ve adapted my setup to quickly and easily work with stems which will then be summed either in the box or in analog through a mastering grade signal chain, depending on what’s best for your music.

Erik at Rapid Flow just released the mastering rack we made! This rack is optimized for the Rapid Flow template but can also be useful in other projects. Erik also made a nice video explaining it a bit. You can find a link to the rack and the video in the comments! 🙂

One of the mysterious "black art" parts of professional mastering is.... tube rolling! 🤓
I've spent hundreds, hmm.. no, thousands of hours optimizing my chain over the last 12 years that I've been mastering music. I've been replacing units, changing the order of units to match the impedance between them, measuring, calibrating, running my converters with different clocks, testing different cables, cleaning up the power in different ways, comparing all converters I've managed to get my hands on, spending hours and hours comparing different dithering algorithms, and trying out all kinds of weird things to get that extra down to "0.1%" of better-sounding results.
All those tiny (and sometimes huge) upgrades stack up, making it "easier" to get great results. So when you see some of the most famous mastering engineers on youtube "only turning a few knobs"... understand that there is often a bit more to it behind the scenes 💚

Updates from the studio!
1. Every cable and unit was removed and positioned more optimally. It took me a few full days and some good help to finish this project.
2. A package with a Weiss DS1 mk3 just arrived (I'll help the owner to sell it). As soon as the kids are away, I'll do some tests with it. First of all, functional tests(!), but then let's see how it compares to the DS1 plugins which Softube made together with Weiss Engineering 🤩

I am setting up cameras in the studio. Why would I ever do that!? 😎

Yet another Future Rave / EDM track is being exported. An excellent way to spend a Tuesday evening!

More bling has been added to the studio! The front panel is in 24-carat gold, and the unit has the sound quality to match it! I've remastered a few tracks today to learn more about how this analog-to-digital converter behaves to different music, and it sounds incredible on everything I've tried it on so far 🤯😍 #mastering #masteringstudio #audiomastering ...
Yesterday I mastered a track with almost only some of the best software/plugins. Tonight I mastered the same track again, almost only using hardware. The results sound similar, but the hardware version sounds more detailed, open, and punchy, and overall feels nicer to listen to after volume normalization, even though the hardware version was louder!
I do this several times yearly to see how far the latest software can take me. My unpopular opinion: Plugins still have a long way to go when it comes to mastering, so I'll continue to optimize and improve my hardware setup 😉 #mastering #masteringstudio #audiomastering #masteringengineer ...
I've been considering adding a fader to my setup for some time now in order to create more "organic" volume automation. While I don't often have the desire to do this, it has crossed my mind on occasion. Many years ago, when I was more focused on mixing, I loved using physical faders to write automation or even print fader rides in real time while bouncing tracks. So yeah, I've been considering this for a while now. Finally, I received this little thing to experiment with. Time to do some audio wave surfing!

One of my favorite things to do when I’m not at work: Paint with the kids!

Hey, this new Sontec EQ emulation is pretty good! It will not replace any of my hardware, but I’ll probably use a band or two once in a while 👍 #masteringstudio #masteringaudio #vstplugins #makebelievestudios ...
